YES Nigeria has been invited by the Federal Ministry of Labour Employment and Productivity to partcipate in the creation of the Implementation Framework of the National Employment Policy as National Committee Members. This is the guide that will be used to create the programmes and unite the stakeholders that will deal with employment in Nigeria.

How do you participate? Simply study the existing employment policy, make your comments and offer suggestions as how this can be successfully implemented. The questions to ask at all points are, will this enable young people earn a decent living and what will?
For reference we have an employment policy review guide available. Please feel free to download it. Collect feedback from your issue based groups and send it back to us. Your organizations name will be listed as a contributor in our report to the coordinating Ministry and the final findings sent to you.

Unemployment
It's good that the state of Nigeria is making some revision into its Employment Policy. In relation to employment, unemployment rate has hit levels not seen in decades, and a lot of people can't even get an installment loan to keep them afloat until they can gain new employment. Growing contingents of economists are predicting 10% unemployment by the end of this economic crisis; several states are already there. California, Michigan, Rhode Island and South Carolina have all hit 10% thus far in the recession, with Oregon and North Carolina about to cross that threshold. (Wyoming has it good – the sole state under 4 %.) Many companies struggle, and more people file for benefits every day. Let's hope the good predictions are correct we'll see a drop in unemployment in 2010. We don’t need to rely on predictions; we all need is to pray for the best as well as help each other to conquer the increasing unemployment rate.
